Saving Little Hearts 5K Davidson, NC June 1st

Well there is definitely no lack of fun events coming up spring / summer 2013 in
the Charlotte area. My very good friend Ashley Cannon spends a lot of time in
Nicaragua working with children and familys in need and she just returned from
her most recent trip. Obviously there are children in need all over the world

take action and do something to help.

lululemon photos at the Mayor's Marathon - Anchorage, Alaska

Does running on a trail with black bears and moose qualify as "doing one thing a day that scares you"? I am saying it does!!! Running the Mayor's Half Marathon in Anchorage was an incredible experience! Congratulations to all of my new lululemon friends who completed the half and the full. I promised a few who live in Anchorage that I would make a point to ask "Lululemon ....when are you going to open a location in anchorage????" Lots of people really, really, really want one!
Here are the photos from the race............hope you like them. If you happen to have photos of lululemon on your Alaska trip and/or during the race, just send them to me and I'll add them. I hope to see you in Vancouver for the SeaWheeze Half - Marathon. If you don't know about that race you need to know...info is here http://whatsupwithdana.com/lululemon-seawheeze-half-marathon

Mayor's Marathon Anchorage, Alaska

I think it was around the middle of April when I met my friend Ashley and her
running group for a five mile run. Afterwards we went to breakfast and someone mentioned that they were training for a half marathon in Anchorage in June. By 4:00 that day Ashley and I had registered for the race and booked a flight!! It was very spur of the moment to say the least. I am SO happy we did it. The race was challenging for me but fun. If you are a runner and looking for a race with a beautiful course....this is the race!
The weather in Alaska in June is perfect for running....60/70 degrees.....not a cloud in the sky for the start! Part of the course was on main roads.....we ran right by the Anchorage International Airport! The planes taking off right above us.

Just when the sun was really starting to beat down on us and I was thinking "WOW this is going to be tough in this bright sun" we turned off onto a shaded trail through the woods......loved it!
Then the dirt turned into a paved nature trail which winded through the woods and along the inlet. Some of the most gorgeous scenery ever.

Iam SOOOOOOOOOOOOO dissapointed that I didn't see this myself but my new friend
Tara saw it during the full marathon. A black bear on the trail. She said the runners had to wait while it crossed.........I did see a black bear get hit and killed by a car while I was there.....SAD! Again...the amazing scenery! I had been looking all over for an Alaska sign .....found one!!!!
